Lightning社のサイトを見ても、下ハンドルモデルは存在しないし、リカンベント写真館のLightningのページを見ても、そんなの一台も載っていないので、ユーザーかショップによって施された改造であると思われる。以下はオーナーの方がこのP-38を購入し、出品するに至る経緯。
This Lightning P-38 recumbent bicycle is unique. It has been adapted with under- seat steering (USS) and a 14 speed Rohloff rear hub.
I have always liked the Lightning P-38 and have test ridden them with over-seat steering, but have been happiest with the comfort of USS ever since I was introduced to it with my Greenspeed trike and subsequently with my Haluzak Hybrid Racer.
When I saw this Lightning with USS, I figured it was the answer to my search for the ultimate recumbent. The icing on the cake was that it has the bulletproof, weatherproof, low maintenance, 14 speed Rohloff hub and all the modifications were professionally done.
I bought it last winter expecting it to replace my Haluzak, but I'm finding that is not so easy to do. I guess it's like parting with a pair of comfortable old shoes. At my age, 71, change doesn't come so easy. So the Lightning needs a new home.

つまり、結局はHaluzakに乗り続けることを選ばれたのでしょうね。
